  I love Burma Superstar's food. LOVE love. But, driving 20 minutes to wait at least an hour always detracts from the experience. SO and I were ecstatic when Hornbill opened. Although the food is not as refined and seems a bit sweeter overall, the food is delicious and we can get our entire regular order - tea leaf salad, beef kebat, chili shrimp - without the obnoxious wait. Plus, the service is absolutely wonderful. Really nice people.

  I really wanted to like this place, but was disappointed by lackluster tastes and presentation. The Lemon Grass Chicken was a bit lifeless and was without any bright lemon grass taste. The chicken was also on the overcooked and chewy side. While the Burmese Catfish Curry had some nice flavor, the fish itself was not recognizable and instead was a mash-up of meat, skin, and bones. The Hornbill Noodle (Vegan) was at least a little more flavorful than the other dishes, but once again was without any stand-out flavor. Probably the best, most flavorful dish we had was the Coconut Rice side. Service was very good, however.
